What was it like when you first saw your name in the lineup as a major league player?

It was like a dream come true!

 

You brought a .290 career batting average into this season. Do you take more pride in your offense or defense?

Offense

 

Who is the toughest opponent you have ever played against?

Jeter

Where is your favorite place to play a baseball game?

Fenway Park

 

When you were undrafted out of college, did you ever think about giving up on baseball?

No way, I was going to keep on playing anyway I could.

 

How did your experience in the minor leagues prepare you for the majors?

It prepares you mentally.

 

Describe your high school baseball experience.

High school baseball was a time to play with your friends and in front of your friends.  High School ball is the first time you are playing for something, playing to keep those traditions or to start new ones.  It is important to remember to keep working, don't let a coach, or anyone tell you your aren't good enough.  

What kind of advice would you give a high school player that is interested in playing baseball at a higher level?

Don't ever accept "No" for an answer.  Believe in yourself.

 

How important is it for high school athletes to take pride in academics as well as sports?

It's important to make sure you that you can play ball everyday, so that means keeping those grades up.

 

If you could invite any three people, throughout all of history, over for dinner, who would they be?

Brent Favre, Babe Ruth, and the Pope
